Dreamy Boho Wedding Cakes You’ll Obsess Over

Boho cakes are pretty much perfect for artistic weddings. The care- free vibes, ethnicity and natural influences make these cakes of a very free- spirited essence. From macramé to earthy accents, what isn’t there to love?

Whether you’re planning a backyard celebration or a forest ceremony, bohemian cakes can inspire you to think beyond traditional white tiers and create something uniquely beautiful for your special day.

We have created a list of 21 boho cake ideas that you’ll LOVE. (Also, we have included some extras for you at the end so stay tuned!). Happy reading! : )

Macramé Cake Wrap

Okay, so macramé is one of the basics of boho style. Naturally, we HAD to have a cake inspired by that.

Here, off- white cake works best with the knots because we don’t want the cake to be overwhelming here. Personally, I would match this to the bride’s wedding dress, or the wedding decor. That way, it looks more YOU instead of a random inspo photo.

Dried Pampas Grass Tiers

Pampas grass can a work a lot more well than you’d think. I would suggest keeping the cake in an earth tone, such as beige, olive, cream, etc which goes pretty well with an outdoor wedding. Plus, the grass is hardy, which means it won’t wilt like fresh flowers.

And the best part about it is that you need way less Pampas grass than you’d think is needed. 2- 3 stalks usually get the job done. Although, please keep the grass away from the part you’re going to cut and serve! And for an extra touch you can add a crocheted tablecloth too.

Pressed Wildflower Design

I feel like we all have seen those pressed flower bookmarks but turns out they work really well on wedding cakes as well! You just gotta choose some edible flowers and press them directly onto fondant for an organic design or use wafer paper flowers for a similar effect.

Since we want the flowers to stand out, choose white or other light- coloured frosting. Bonus tip, you can personalize the flowers to your wedding pallet. For example, pansies, calendulas and lavenders can work really well for a yellow and purple colour pallet.

Dreamcatcher Inspired

Dreamcatchers are such a popular boho design right now, and believe it or not, they make a great cake design. Tall cakes work best here since the dreamcatcher has a lot of intricate details like its feathers, webbing and beads which can be wrapped around the cake. Use edible paint or fondant to create the key design elements.

I personally go for a pastel blue ombre cake (cuz it’s my favourite colour) with a white dream catcher design and edible glitter (I mean duh).

Naked Cake with Succulents

Credit: magicakesbytavo

Y’all, we underestimate simplicity a lot of times. Weddings tend to be one of those. This cake can work so well in garden weddings with the succulents. The blue green colours of the plants really pop against the cake’s natural brown tones. The fact that you can use real succulents makes this idea even better.

Just place them on the cake right before serving since they can’t touch the cake directly. This cake literally screams ‘Simplicity is the Key’.

Feather and Gold

This cake gives off such elegant and luxurious vibes. This style works especially well for spring or summer outdoor weddings. The gold accents with the feathers work really well for summer or spring weddings.

I would suggest discussing with your baker to find some food safe options for the feather, because real ones are quite delicate,

Crystal Geode Accent

literally look like something out of a fairytale. They have a ‘broken’ section, which has sparkling crystals inside made of sugar. Purple, pink and blue work really well for the sugar crystals, or you can match it to your theme. This is giving modern bohemian wedding, and I am all for it!

Terracotta and White

I honestly love me some earthy themes, and this is quite it for me. So, terracotta is an earthy orange-brown color (which is quite on point for bohemian style) and it pairs REALLY well with crisp white. The whole look put together is very desert style boho cake.

Contrast is your friend here, so you can keep one tier terracotta coloured, and one tier crisp white. Add dried flowers (pampas grass works here as well) or painted desert elements and voila! You got yourself a very boho coded cake with desert accents.

Moroccan Tile Pattern

Hear me out when I say that this idea can elevate you cake instantly to another artistic level. The geometric designs can be as simple or intricate as you want – from basic quatrefoils (imagine a flower with four round petals) to complex star patterns.

Put these patterns against white fondant for it to stand out. I would suggest to sticking to only one pattern for a tier and rest of the decorations to be minimal. These cakes are chef’s kiss!

Desert Rose Theme

Pink with beige creates a look which gives desert romance. That’s why pink roses (painted with food colouring or piped frosting) with beige undertones can work really well on a cake.

I would suggest adding some succulents for some texture and pink, sage green and blue along with slight gold accents to make this cake a literal masterpiece.

Eucalyptus Cascade

A bohemian favourite is eucalyptus with its silvery green leaves. A cascade of it down the tiers of an off-white cake would work so well in outdoor weddings, especially in garden venues or vineyards.

Adding in some baby’s breath blooms between the leaves can make this cake even better. The best part about eucalyptus is that it stays fresh for hours and won’t wilt like delicate flowers would.

Woven Hemp Details

Texture is an important part of bohemian style. Hemp twine adds said important part and looks really good on cakes. You’ll see this work especially well on naked cakes or those with minimal frosting. It’s perfect for barn weddings or casual outdoor celebrations.

Dry flowers and small blooms can make this even prettier if put together with metallic accents. Also, keep the twine irregular and slightly messy for a handmade look. It’s all about the beauty of imperfection!

Celestial Moon Phases

Moon phase decorations are absolutely perfect for evening receptions or winter weddings. Metallic fondant or edible paint should be used to paint the phases of the moon. You can add small stars or constellations but be careful not to overcrowd the design. Honestly, this would work so well on a black to navy blue ombré. It’s out of this world (pun intended).

Earthy Color Ombré

A light to dark ombre in natural tones works so well for boho brides. For a forest theme, a sage green to a dark moss colour can work so well. Terracotta to sandy brown gives desert. This style matches well with outdoor venues and natural decorations. I would recommend three or more tiers because the colours need space to transition. Minimalist decorations are the key, because we want the gradient to shine here.

Dried Orange Slices

Credit: qtcakesbyquincey

This might sound weird, but dried orange slices have a way of adding a natural pattern to the cake. They catch light prettily and give very summer vibes. And the best part is, if you wanna use them in a winter wedding, add some pinecones and cinnamon sticks and bam! You got yourself a winter wedding cake.

The slices can either be layered or scattered. Naked cakes work best here and also fair warning, dry them two days ahead of time (they need to be completely dry before placing on the cake).

Natural Wood Tiers

Wood-effect tiers make your cake look like cozy and very wood nymph coded. Get this look with fondant textured to mimic wood grain or use food-safe bark wraps around each tier of the cake.

This is really good for barn or forest venues. Although don’t go overboard with the decorations. Add a few fresh flowers and call it a day. Also, please use brown tones instead of gray for a cozy warm look.

Rustic Berry Garland

Credit: hellocupcake.dianak

This sort of decoration is genuinely so easy. Get some berries and place them around the base of each tier (and don’t stuff them together so it looks too formal). Mix different types like blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries for variety. This idea works for all weddings, but summer weddings are just its thing. Add small leaves and vines to make the garland more natural. This with light coloured frosting is gorgeous!

Painted Desert Sunset

Desert-inspired cakes look like edible sunsets. Soft oranges, dusty pinks, and terra-cotta shades are painted onto smooth frosting to create warm desert vibes. This creates a really pretty effect that I love.

They work great for southwest or minimalist celebrations, and since the painting is the star, the rest of the cake should stay simple. You can add in some gold accents and dry flowers but still, keep it simple.

Dried Lavender Sprigs

Credit: bakedprettybymel

Dried lavender adds soft purple color and a natural, wild touch to white wedding cakes. The sprigs can be used as small accents or flowing down the tiers for a dramatic look. Some pink and gold accents complement the purple of the lavender really well.

They’re great for summer weddings, especially in gardens or vineyards, since dried flowers don’t wilt easily. Just make sure the lavender is food-safe and keep the stems away from the cake. You can even add some cutouts of butterflies (those silver holographic ones) for a special touch.

Olive Branch Wreath

An olive branch wreath made from sugar paste or fresh leaves creates a very chic and elegant feel for your cake. You can carefully wrap it around each tier and add in some baby’s breaths for a really pretty look. This is literally made for garden or Italian rustic type weddings. The green against white combo is lowkey my fave.

Woven Basket Texture

These cakes have my heart with their simple yet complex vibe. These cakes honestly work well for all sorts of outdoor events, especially barn and rustic weddings. This design has its beauty is simplicity, so I would suggest only adding a few gold accents. Stick to wider weave patterns since they photograph better and won’t look messy from a distance.

Boho Wedding Cake Style Guide

Boho wedding cakes are all about nature themes, colours and different textures. Instead of perfectly polished designs, these cakes often feel organic and slightly rustic, which makes them perfect for outdoor weddings, garden venues, and laid-back celebrations.

Popular Boho Wedding Cake Colors

Bohemian palettes usually pull from nature. Some of the most common shades include:

  • Terracotta and clay tones
  • Sage green and eucalyptus green
  • Dusty rose and muted pink
  • Cream, ivory, and soft beige
  • Warm sand or caramel tones

Many couples combine two or three earthy colors for a layered, natural look.

Natural Decorations Often Used

One of the biggest features of boho cakes is nature-inspired decor.

  • Dried flowers and grasses
  • Pampas grass
  • Fresh herbs or greenery
  • Berries and citrus slices
  • Crystals or geode accents
  • Feathers or macramé details

These elements add texture and help the cake match the relaxed, earthy vibe of a bohemian wedding.

Questions to Ask Your Baker

Before finalizing your cake design, it’s helpful to talk through a few details with your baker. Boho cakes often include natural decorations or outdoor setups, so asking the right questions can prevent problems later.

Can the decorations safely touch the cake?
Some decorations like pampas grass, feathers, or crystals aren’t food safe. Your baker may need to wrap stems or place barriers so they don’t touch the cake directly.

Will the cake hold up in outdoor weather?
Outdoor weddings can bring heat, humidity, or wind. Ask if the frosting and decorations will stay stable during the event.

When will the cake be delivered and set up?
Most bakers recommend delivering the cake as late as possible so it stays fresh and doesn’t sit outside too long.

Can the colors match my wedding palette?
If you’re planning specific colors like terracotta, sage, or dusty rose, ask if the baker can customize the frosting shades to match your decor.

Will extra servings be available if we need them?
Some couples order a smaller display cake and serve sheet cake in the kitchen. Your baker can explain how many guests each option will serve.

There you have it, 21 ideas to decorate your bohemian wedding cakes! Hope you found this blog helpful and got a lot of inspiration from it. Wish you luck! : )
